SmithSolve at WORLDSymposium

By Smitha Dwarakanath

WORLDSymposium continues to grow every year as a forum for members of the rare disease community focused on lysosomal diseases. The excitement was palpable at this year’s meeting, which kicked off fittingly on February 29, Rare Disease Day. The venue buzzed with a 1000 + people from all over the world – an impressive turnout for a small community, and evidence of the increasing focus on rare diseases.

SmithSolve was honored to rub shoulders with researchers, patient advocacy groups, clinicians and industry representatives – reviewing cutting-edge research at poster sessions, securing invaluable patient perspectives at coffee shops, and identifying ways to collaboratively help those living with lysosomal diseases.

Tying it all together was the commanding art and portrait gallery, which stood front and center in the foyer. As attendees bustled from meeting to meeting, artwork featuring portraits and stories of patients served as a quiet, powerful reminder of the reason we were all there.

Here’s looking forward to next year.
