The Colors of Kindness

By Tina Okun

On June 28th, 2014, we will be participating in the Color Vibe 5K in Morris Plains, NJ, to raise funds for the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation. It’s our privilege to support this charity created to honor the memory of a first grader who lost her life in the 2012 Sandy Hook tragedy. The Foundation is fulfilling Catherine’s dream of being a caretaker to animals by building the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary. “Be Kind Like Catherine” is the SmithSolve team name, and our goal is to raise $5,000 to send to Matt and Jenny Hubbard, Catherine’s parents.

The state of Connecticut is gifting 34 acres of land usage for the future sanctuary, which brings the Foundation one step closer to fulfilling their goal. The Hubbards are determined to build a place where all creatures are welcome, and one that will be a national model for providing a safe haven to animals in need of healing support. It is our hope to assist the next phase of this remarkable program with donations raised as we run in the Color Vibe 5K.

Morris County Color Vibe SmithSolveJune 8th is Catherine’s birthday, and by that date we want to reach our $5,000 goal. Won’t you please consider making a tax-deductible contribution? Donations can be mailed to:
